What is S&S?

S&S is a wholesale apparel and accessory distributor serving the United States and Canada, founded in 1988 and headquartered in Bolingbrook, Illinois. We supply imprintable blanks to the businesses that decorate and resell them: screen printers, embroiderers, promotional products distributors, e-commerce brands, and merchandisers. If you put a logo on apparel, we're the part of the supply chain that gets you the apparel.

Is S&S Activewear now called S&S?

Yes. S&S Activewear is evolving its public-facing brand to simply S&S. While the name is changing, the company, website, customers, products, distribution network, and services remain the same. The transition reflects the broader value S&S delivers today, including products, technology, business solutions, and distribution expertise.

Why did S&S Activewear change its name?

S&S has evolved significantly over the years. While we built our reputation as a leader in wholesale apparel distribution, today we help customers grow through a combination of products, technology, business solutions, service, and distribution expertise. Moving from S&S Activewear to S&S reflects the broader role we play in the branded merchandise industry and where we're headed as a company.

What makes S&S different from other distributors?

Speed, depth, and reliability. Our strategically placed warehouses put 1-2 day delivery within reach of most of the country, and anything ordered before the cutoff ships that same day. We maintain the deepest inventory in the industry with no minimum order requirements, so business customers get case pricing whether they buy one piece or a thousand. We fulfill more than 6 million orders a year at the lowest error rates in the industry, and we were awarded Inc. Best in Business in 2024.

Who does S&S serve?

S&S serves businesses that source products for resale, customization, decoration, and branded merchandise programs. Customers include promotional product distributors, screen printers, embroiderers, heat transfer specialists, team dealers, apparel decorators, e-commerce sellers, and other organizations that create custom merchandise for businesses, schools, teams, events, and consumers.

How is S&S evolving to support customers?

Our focus is expanding beyond product distribution alone. We continue to invest in technology, fulfillment capabilities, business solutions, and services that help customers operate more efficiently and unlock new opportunities for growth. From product selection and inventory availability to integrations, decoration resources, and marketing support, we are continually looking for new ways to help our customers succeed.

Can the general public buy from S&S?

Our business is helping businesses grow. That's why S&S is designed first and foremost for decorators, screen printers, promotional products distributors, e-commerce and retail brands, and merchandisers. Business customers can register for a business account to access wholesale pricing, payment terms (where eligible), discounted samples, dedicated support, and other tools designed to help their business succeed. Individual shoppers are also welcome to purchase from S&S at retail pricing. Creating an account makes it easier to manage orders and track purchases, while registered business customers receive additional wholesales benefits.

Does S&S only sell wholesale apparel?

No. While wholesale apparel remains a core part of the business, S&S offers a much broader range of products and solutions. The company supports the branded merchandise industry through apparel, accessories, promotional products, fulfillment services, technology integrations, decoration resources, marketing tools, and other business solutions designed to help customers succeed.

Who owns S&S?

S&S has been owned by the investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) since 2021. Since then, we've continued to invest in growth, including our 2024 acquisition of alphabroder, which brought two of the industry's largest apparel distributors together. Today, customers benefit from an expanded brand portfolio, a broader distribution network, and continued investment in technology, inventory, and business solutions.
